デフレは、需要の不足により生じるのであるが、その根本原因は過小消費にあり、それはまた富の分配に淵源を持っている。
資本性市場経済システムの内的矛盾：利潤を生むためのコスト削減（とりわけ賃金コスト）が必要だが、他方で消費需要の伸びを抑えて滞貨をもたらす。
総生産（所得）と消費（需要）の差（つまり貯蓄）が投資（需要）によって満たされれば良いが、そうでなければ滞貨が生じる。
生産設備等への投資は生産能力を高めることになり、次期以降の販路問題を厳しくする。
生産性の上昇に合わせて賃金を引き上げることが肝要である。
